I am human, man and woman; I am flawed by every light.
I’ve known jealously and sadness; I’ve seen ecstasy and spite.
I am beauty in the darkness or an evil in the sun,
And the world about me lingers like a dream I can’t outrun.

I am everything around you; I’m the dead and the concrete.
I’ve the sky between my fingers and the earth against my feet.
I’m the powerless and hungry; I’m the manic and depressed.
I am children in the billions from beyond the east and west.

I’m a deity or spirit; I’m a sinner or a saint.
I am dying or immortal and I love without constraint.
I who hesitate an era and then tumble in headfirst -
I’m existence at its finest and creation at its worst.

I’m the pride of evolution or the masterpiece of gods.
The result of fifty failures for the one that beat the odds.
I’m the monster illustrated from a half forgotten glance.
I’m today’s imagination and tomorrow’s circumstance.

I’m a thousand years of legends and a decade of deceit.
I am everything around you; I’m the dead and the concrete.
I’m the calm before the tempest or the storm you can’t appease.
I am human, man and woman, and I’m anything I please.
