She Was a Caged Bird

Tears fall from her big brown eyes,
She hates it when they tell her lies.
She knows she's not perfect, she knows she's not smart,
But does it really call for all of them to break her heart?
She's afraid of what the others think,
Staring for hours into the mirror, a death grip on the sink.
She tries her best,
Putting her skills to the test.
She'll cry herself to sleep tonight,
Tomorrow she'll walk down those halls, her head held with all her might.
Slowly, she's overcoming her fear,
She no longer cares about all the rumors she hears.
These people don't know her,
And she knows that when it comes to gossip, there is no cure.
So, she'll walk through the school,
Not caring what the other kids deem 'cool'.
Now, that girl is happy as can be,
"I was a caged bird, but now I'm free."
