Life’s Not Ever What I Expected

What can I say about my mom?
She’s a single parent
And though I miss my dad I’ve never known.
Viewing items in a box that once belonged to him
I know he must have been a great man to have married my mother.

Luke
He’s been my father figure from day one
And I wouldn’t change that.
He’s like a grown version of my best friend,

But now that my mom’s not who I thought she was
What else can I think?
She’s hidden a past from me that I can’t even begin to fathom
For all I know Luke is in on it.
Maybe my geek friend is a vampire in disguise
After meeting the golden boy
I don’t even trust my own eyes any more.

I won’t be waking up tomorrow, to go to my art classes anymore.
Somehow I think they will become insignificant in the days to follow.
Everything my mom has taught me seems so insignificant right now.

This poem I'm presenting to my class with my author powerpoint. Everyone else was reading something, and I kind of need a good mark on the thing, so I thought of this. :D
