Truth or Consequence

Truth or Consequence ::~

Humble before you all
I write and plea.
For nothing more then
my natural liberty.
To speak and believe
only as I choose.
And that the words I
share not be abused.

If not who among you
is most fit to judge?
Whose accusations
bare no hint of grudge.
To such a baring as
honest, pure, and true.
I dare not take claim
can any of you?

Of my own mistakes
I bear the weight.
Letting emotions speak
has brought me hate.
None can change the past
not man or Saint.
But only cowards hide
their true complaint.

Who can restrict a
poet or their heart?
When did bullying
become an act of art?
I spoke in remembrance
of those who died.
Yes, I also spoke
protesting suicide.

Here comes the choice
of Truth or Consequence.
The truth I can convey
with all confidence.
Suicide is but an end
to this physical life.
Self harm inflicted
by more then a knife.

Death the Consequence
you can't escape.
The gift of life that
by God's hands was shaped.
Now by your choice
ended to be no more.

Is that the answer you were looking for?

This is an older poem, but its meaning and purpose still hold true for me today. Feel free to comment. ~Shea
