Paper Flowers

In a field of paper flowers, I am a steel magnolia
I am a tad beat beaten, but far from defeated.
Will you still love me in the morning?
Can I expect the sun to rise on both of us at once?

Don’t leave me cold with an even colder heart,
Because you forgot to bundle your shoulders up
I will bloom one day, my love
And if I’m with you
Then someday soon
Can I expect us to be found together?

In a field of paper flowers, will they find us there?
With bruised and sore fingers,
We were folding flowers
Will you still love me in the morning?
Once the magic is gone, when the nectar of the flowers
Trickles away into your stomach and leaves your taste buds?
Will you?
