She

She ran through the forest
On and on
Looking for her mother
Where had she gone?

She didn’t speak to strangers
Remembering what she was taught
Looking for her mother
Looking for support

She stopped suddenly
And went white like a sheet
For there was her mother
Her head had been beat

She screamed in her loudest voice
Tears falling in a cascade
But no one even made a sound
No one came to her aid

She cried herself to sleep that night
Despairing at her loss
Wondering how she would survive
Being her own boss

She lasted two weeks
Living on her own
But then she fell into the trap
Of not leaving strangers alone

Drugs and alcohol filled her mind
The downward spiral has come
Not long now it’s almost time
Soon her life will be done

At the age of 19
With no support on lend
She committed suicide
Wishing for the end
