Dead Window

Black clouds cover the sky
No wonder no one is out tonight again.

Nothing more than a pale face
And a sad story hanging behind them.

Beyond the dark sky
He thinks there is nothing.

She's just sleeping in her bed
Talking again in her dreams.

He's staring at a window
Looking at another window.

I am just siting here
Watching everything from here.

The black clouds move
And the moon shines bright.

The guy wakes up
Walking straight home again from the bar.

He looks up and smiles
As the stars appear again.

She wakes up sweating
From a horrifying dream.

He's staring back
The window open now.

The moon is covered once again
By the black clouds which now loom over us.

The light has disappeared
From the old man's room.

He's going home
To his broken down apartment.

She goes back to sleep
Not knowing the horrors would come back.

He's still watching
The same window.

I look at him
With a questioning look.

He only smiles
And asks something.

I smile back
Answering it.

We know it's the same thing
Every single time.

Time never is the same.
And never is our childhood.

We're so close
But we feel far apart.

"Time is ticking, how long will this silence last?"

"As long as they don't know they're gone, dear brother."
