I Love, You Love; You Love, I'm Not.

You told me I was different,
You told me that I’d changed.
You said you no longer knew me,
You no longer recognize.

You said you’re not familiar,
With the young girl before you.
You said you disliked her,
The new young teenager.

With that, I laughed.
I laughed so hard that I cried.
Mostly at your declarations,
And partly at your reactions.

There was confusion, I saw,
I bet you didn’t expect this at all.
The shock quickly subsided,
Replaced by the fire in your eyes.

‘What’s so funny?!’
I heard you yelled,
‘What are you laughing at?’
You screamed and shouted.

‘You,’ I said after a tiny while.
‘That one that always makes me goes LOL.’

‘I’m serious!’
Your face flushed red.
‘I’m not joking!’
You yelled again.

‘I know,’
My smile remained.
‘That’s the funny part,’
I explained at last.

You were in disbelief,
That much I knew.
You might want to work on your
Poker face or small façade.

It had been always like that, I’d say,
Since the every first day.
I smiled fondly at the memory,
But quickly dismissed it for my sanity.

‘It means you finally know,
‘Better than a five-year-old.
‘Because this is the real me,
‘The one you never see.’

‘Don’t you think it’s an epic fail?’
I asked with mild humor.
‘By my side, you’ve been,
‘Yet unable to see reality.’

‘It doesn’t matter now,
‘I’ve learnt to accept it.
‘It doesn’t matter how,
‘Because you’ll learn it too, bit by bit.’

‘Learn to accept?’
The confusion arose.
‘Accept what?’
I heard you ask.

My heels spun and turned,
My back facing your puzzled face.
I left you there, alone and cold,
But not without the final words.

‘The one you loved, so deeply and true,
Had returned your love,
To the one he sees,
But not the one you are.’
