Signs of “Pre-Exam Phobia”

You are pacing around your room,
Feeling like you’re headed to your doom.

Looking like a fish hiding from a net,
Seeing a sailor you wish you’ve never met.

Sitting and standing every now and then,
Wishing you can sit peacefully like a mother hen.

Opening your eyes and seeing nothing but the dark,
Sitting still yet feeling like swimming away from an unseen shark.

Looking for the pen that is in your hand,
Then feeling as stupid as the ostrich that’s hiding in the sand.

Wanting to fly way to like a duck,
But even with that you have no luck.

Trying to be as sneaky as a mouse,
Wishing you were out of this house.

Sitting alone feeling like a rat,
That has been betrayed and cornered by a cat.

Dreading the moment when you’d have to walk to class,
And can’t be saved by the old hall pass.

Knowing that soon after your grades will be out,
And that you’ll have to sit there and listen to your parents shout.

Then congratulations you’ve been diagnosed,
You have Pre-Exam Phobia that has no cure and your case has been closed
