The Crow and the Tree

So briefly did the crow land some might say
That the crow did not land but flew on by
The tree knew the crow did land and asked why
The crow must land so briefly and not stay

To another’s branches, the crow now went
And the old tree wept tears of golden leaves
The crow flutters by like a well known tease
The tree reached and called out, for years it spent

Winters and summers watching as the crow
Lived without thought of where it once landed
The very core of the tree was branded
By crows beauty, all else was mock show

She walks the streets and thinks not of he who weeps without her
He smiles yet hurts wishing to forget that he still loves her
