All These Simple Things

Birds sing,
bells ring,
and hope clings,
all these simple things.
Rains fall,
angels call,
and babies of small,
these simple things of all.
My back breaks,
my lungs ache,
and my eyes lay wake,
all these things I can't take.
Gardeners tow,
seeds to sow,
and flowers begin their grow,
these simple things all flow.
Your heart in mine,
our lives collide,
and love to find,
all these simple things in time.
Bargains to wage,
turn the page,
and children age,
these simple things all on stage.
Times fly,
we cry,
and prepare to die,
all these simple things of goodbye.
