Of Salt Water and Hand Grenades

You're the best thing since Daisy's last stance
The best memory of my dying breath.
You're the sun that shines from beyond the moon.
And worth all of all the battles--
Each one I went through--
I went through to get to you.

This tribute, a lesson learned, a promise broken.
Scars I will wear upon my wrists,
A memory -- a picture with a twist.
Of salt water and hand grenades,
Of waterfalls and desert storms--
Of weary smiles and tears shed.

You saved me that day--
I saved you another.
You were my life raft when I had no other.
Absorbed in naivety, a cataclysmic beginning--
Poisoned from the start--
Of salt water and hand grenades,
Vodka and hope.

This isn't intended to be a poetic masterpiece. This is purely intended to vent some emotions that were eating away at me in the A.M. R.I.P. Lex. I will never understand, but I will never stop trying.
