The Girl in the Box

[font=comic sans]
I opened a box one day
To find a little girl just my size;
Her hair was fine,
Her eyes were wide,
And her smile shined from east to west.
“Where did you come from?”
I thoughtfully inquired.
“From this box,” she said quite tired.

We played and played
Night and day
Until one day she disappeared.
I looked all over;
Turned every rock and cover.
I asked Mommy if she had seen her,
She had not.
I asked Daddy where she was,
He did not know.

I searched at the park
From light till dark
But still, she was missing.
After a while, she finally did come back.
“Where were you?” I requested
Without hesitation so she would not say it was all a bluff.
“I never left; you just didn’t look hard enough.”
