To Afraid To Be Me

He hurt’s, he cries,
he can’t step out into the light;
every day is like an endless fight.

He denies how he was born,
he expression,
well worn.

He can’t find the fire;
that’s buried deep inside.
Deep down, he’s a liar.

The demon inside taunts,
the ghost inside haunts…
won’t get rid of these “terrible” thoughts.

He can’t admit it,
he’s too ashamed to say it out loud.
In himself, he isn’t proud.

He’ll hide the truth at bay,
inside a box he can’t throw away.
He smiles throughout the day.

But really…

He hurts,
he cries,
you can’t see the pain in his eyes.
