your poem

"write me a poem" you said to me,
paint the world in words as only you see
but how i can i tell you what i don't even know?
i'm not sure you'll see what i'm trying to show:

in shadows of darkness hiding the night
i search the starred sky, looking for light
patterns of diamonds lay sprawled above
spelling out stories of hatred and love

both looking up, we see the same sky
and i can almost imagine you close by
but i still can't feel your hand in mine
an infinite boundary, an invisible line

i'm still stuck seeing in shades of black and white
and every decision, is an internal fight
it's so easy for you to see in rainbow hues
if only that was an option that I could choose

there are so many times, our hearts are intertwined
yet our worlds are different, and so are our minds.
