Old Tavern Row (A Morbid Kind Of Sinister)

Have you heard the story of the house on Old Tavern Row?
Haunted by ghosts and the memories of children and lovers
A place to be feared and skirted by all
But enter if you dare, for you never come out alive.

You'll find murderers in the kitchen,
Sipping tea and cleaning knives
Upstairs in the bedroom
Two lovers swing from a hangman's noose
And if you chance upon the bathroom,
All candles and skulls,
Where rose petals in the water
Are not petals at all.

Careful, watch your step,
Down the stairs you may fall
And soon come to realizeĀ
That the banisters are bones.

A regular haunted house
I'm sure you'll all agree
But just wait until you see the garden -
More than your typical cemetery.

The roof is guarded by gargoyles
A curse if you look them in the eye
Dead trees moan and groan,
Providing music for the dead.

And be careful you don't get locked in the basement
Or perhaps, should I say, the morgue?
The walls are stained and dripping with screams
And the air as stale as a withered heart.

So be careful of the house down on Old Tavern Row
A place to be feared and skirted by all
But if you decide to enter, you'll never come out with your life
Left to spend the rest of your days with the dead and not-alive.
