Like a Monster

Minds ill-prepared and ever so achy,
Places she's never seen but still recall,
This light is dim and flickering,
This dark gaze casts itself upon her,
There's no where to hide.

The nails scratch only the surface and teeth grind,
Betrayal is just a beast but always disguised,
Plead and beg for a new ending,
The one she has written bares agony and darkness,
Beauty is what is despised in this time of madness.

Letting everything go just on a whim,
Standing in the place she once called home,
Where's the one glimpse of hope?
Just let it all go.

Pressing lips to broken glass,
She falls to pieces on ashes of the sun,
What have we become?
