Monster

Follow the stairs to go back home
Or continue on the path to your dream
Dipping your fingers in this small shallow stream
Will not get you anywhere that you want to go

Pool little elf girl with her long ears
And her senses so stronger than ours
There is not rain there is not snow
For her body to take refuge

The bright light from the waning moon
Matches her short wispy locks
The bark on the forests’ trees
Reminds us all of her blistering flesh

Her eyes are dark her chin a point
Her ears are long and sharp
Her nose like a narrow funnel
Pointing down to the chest without a heart

Don’t you underestimate her small size
Her body is quick and graceful
Don’t you dare listen to her mocking lies
She’s very strong and much too able

She’ll shut you down with no shame
But please don’t you condemn her
She is not the one to blame
She is not the monster whom raised her
