Monsters
I had an assignment in class to write a song about a social injustice so I picked the way some people are treated.
-----
Fixed on a false truth.
Words that don't make sense.
I just can't understand when you say,
There is sense in nonsense.
Because when you open your mouth,
Contradiction falls out.
Chorus:
You claim it's an abomination.
The love for someone who's the same.
Shed our skin and you'll see,
You're a monster just like me.
What we feel isn't a name,
What you say is not a game.
We feel what you feel.
All monsters are the same.
'Hello' is a rich word,
So you spit on the ground we stand on.
It's a wonder why we don't hold guns instead of hands.
You say it's a choice,
So step into my shoes and see
It's not easy being me.
Chorus:
You claim it's an abomination.
The love for someone who's the same.
Shed our skin and you'll see,
You're a monster just like me.
What we feel isn't a name,
What you say is not a game.
We feel what you feel.
All monsters are the same. (2x)
It's not so easy,
We're all monsters here.
