You Should Be Sleeping

“You should be sleeping.”
That's what she told me
But I couldn't stop thinking
Till the hours of morning wee

“You should be sleeping.”
Perhaps, I should
But I'm listening to my calling
Maybe later I would

“You should be sleeping.”
Stop it, mother dear
For I am thinking
What is it that I fear?

“You should be sleeping.”
I was told again
I shall now stop thinking
And count to ten

“You should be sleeping.”
But I already am
Here I am, dreaming
I already am
