The Letter

Our voices low, our hearts are racing
Pain lurks in the back of my mind
He doesn't know what he's facing
To him, I've been all but kind
He fixed me when I was low and worthless
He canceled out all my fears and sorrow
How will I ever shake this?
Knowing for us, there will never be a tomorrow

So take my hand, pray for me
Guide me through this blackening disease
My life is gone, I have no place to be
I'll give my heart another squeeze
You gave me yourself, I gave you this letter
I know I could be better

All my messages and dirty words lie inside
Folded up in a neatly fashion
For now, I have nothing to hide
This is the end of our burning passion
You were my beginning, now you are my end
Even though you were the one that let me see
There's nothing left for us to mend
Even though you set my soul free

So take my hand, pray for me
Guide me through this blackening disease
My life is gone, I have no place to be
I'll give my heart another squeeze
You gave me yourself, I gave you this letter
I know I could be better

Wrapped up in my self-induced bondage
This feels like a blackening cancer
We're finally forced to cross this bridge
I see the sign that reads, "Danger, Danger!"
Holding you for the last time, I feel guilty
You gave me love, I gave you scars
But you still take the breath away from me
For now, I will have to look at you from afar

So take my hand, pray for me
Guide me through this blackening disease
My life is gone, I have no place to be
I'll give my heart another squeeze
You gave me yourself, I gave you this letter
I know I could be better

But instead, I gave you the letter
