My Fault

Take a minute and see what you’ve done.
Look around the desolate, blackened sky.
Listen to the resonating sounds of the gun.

Have you found your way to the light?
Or has the darkness over-run your soul?
Most just believe you’ve given up the fight.

All hope seems to be so lost in your eyes.
I know you have no map to guide you home.
They believe that this love has been your demise.

You try to keep on breathing and I see that.
You don’t have to hide from me.
Together, this is something we can work at.

Today, you gave me that look, the icy glare.
I wondered what I did to deserve such a thing.
And when I remembered, I could find no air.

“One day we’ll be free, together you and me.
Hand in hand, we can spiral the Sun.
Take it now, if you agree.”

Silly how a little thing like that could ruin.
The Sun forgot how to shine, to warm.
It now only remembers to act like a bruin.

I understand your anguish as it grows.
I caused your pain and all this destruction
Yet only you and I are the ones who know.

I take a minute and see what I’ve done.
Look around the desolate, blackened sky;
Listen to the resonating sounds of the gun.

The light can only seem like an art
When darkness is at your fingertips
And the gun is pointed at your broken heart.

Listen to the resonating sounds of the gun.
