Definition of Perfection

The way you talk about me,
I bet everyone could see.
The way you smile when your phone beeps,
everyone smiles your way.
You threw those sugar-coated lines;
You best believe, I took every word.

My definition of perfection comes from within.

Kissing in the rain,
wearing a hoodie that says your name,
watching a movie in the dark
and you not wanting anything.
You took me swimming in the lake
and held me close; made sure I didn't drown.
Not being ashamed to tell your friends,
"this is my girl; don't be messin' around"

No one is perfect, but I'm not looking for perfection.
Even that bad boy routine can't last forever.
This good girl could calm your ways; if given the chance.

The chance was never given,
and soon enough she walked away.

We both know that she stated that once she walked away,
she wouldn't turn back.

Your bad boy reputation is what pulled me in.
You told me you changed, but the past seemed to reappear.
Maybe one day you'll see what you lost.
Even though you made me smile and laugh;
You know we could never change the past.

That's the definition of my perfection..
