A Little While

A little while I live
Upon this earthen plane
A little while I linger
In this pouring rain
A little while I watch
From outside your bedroom window
A little while I wonder
As I watch all the lights turn a soft yellow
A little while I picture
Myself by your side
A little while I pray
Within the bushes that I hide
A little while I hesitate
Before I ring that bell
A little while I halt
As you rush out the door and I feel my longing swell
A little while I caress
As your lips form to mine
A little while I continue
Our fingers entwine
How long have we waited,
For this day to come?
How long have I listened,
To my eager heart thrum?
To be with you and you alone
A little while longer for time unknown
