-Ins and outs of tasks mundane
Leave little to desire.
If one aspires to great attain
Then tell them to aim higher.
Amongst the boughs of orchards peach,
Where ultimately out of reach
The outward goal that they beseech
Sits teasingly entire.
-Now they’re clippèd on the chin,
Now they amble lighter;
If roar resolve resides within
It’s now you’ll see a fighter.
A quiet promise, inward pact
Acknowledging the simple fact
That their tenacity has slacked
And someone else’s tighter.
-Burning body, breath a-rasp,
A mental state of loath,
For victory within your grasp
Needs mind and body both.
Live along a noble road
And gladly bear a heavy load.
When nerves controlled and breath is slowed
The victor makes this oath.
-Gain and glory to the fore
And gone is loss’s sting.
But if one has endeavours more
Remain does one small thing:
The core of any sweet success,
A seed to source another test
Lay hidden in the juice and flesh
Of this initial win.
Leave little to desire.
If one aspires to great attain
Then tell them to aim higher.
Amongst the boughs of orchards peach,
Where ultimately out of reach
The outward goal that they beseech
Sits teasingly entire.
-Now they’re clippèd on the chin,
