Holiday

I only exist in your mind
I set off on a holiday
and they say I never came back.
I set off for a new place
a new face
I set off on a holiday
before I could run away.

You wrote me letters
burnt them too I saw
one you sent in a bottle
another wishful hope dashed
you walked back to your car and drove away.
But did you ever think to stay?

I was there, standing right besides you
I watched as you struggled to fit the paper through the narrow neck
whilst in your mind you struggled to understand
why I ever set of on that holiday.
I was there whilst your feet sank into sand
I even tried to hold your hand.

I screamed for you to turn back
But the wind carried away my voice
infact it carried away ever last bit of me
I didnt stand a chance.
And all the while I was thinking of our last dance
Just before I set off on that holiday.
You see, I just had to get away.
