Home
Every day I think, I wish I could go home
But I can’t because
Home now is somewhere that doesn’t exist
Home is a cheap apartment
lined with posters and art
and music coming from a laptop
Home is schoolwork scattered around
and a cat waiting to be fed
Home has you and me
waiting for the other to come back from school
or work
Home is us curling up together at night
basking in warmth
touching so gently
glowing with contentment
Home has you and me
and I don’t know when that will come to be
But I’m willing to wait
But I can’t because
Home now is somewhere that doesn’t exist
Home is a cheap apartment
lined with posters and art
and music coming from a laptop
Home is schoolwork scattered around
and a cat waiting to be fed
Home has you and me
waiting for the other to come back from school
or work
Home is us curling up together at night
basking in warmth
touching so gently
glowing with contentment
Home has you and me
and I don’t know when that will come to be
But I’m willing to wait
