When the tide rolls in, I'll think of you.

I've watched a light die out;
Slowly, Slightly,
Plunge into the deep

I've watched the world dissolve
and die,
collapse onto unsteady knees

I've seen a thousand crows,
cumble on the dirt under
my feet

I'll count the bones inside
your body,
I'll feel your heart with
every beat

With every shuddering breath
you take,
I'll be the water that you breathe

And when you shut your eyes for
good,
I'll be that hands that set you free

And I will touch your frozen hand,
before your body joins the ground

And when they utter gentle words,
I will not make a single sound

And I'll still see you in the parking lot,
As frail as summer rain

You are the droplets on my window,
you are the thoughts inside my brain

And when the stars appear tonight,
I'll name the brightest after you

I'll light a match and watch it disappear,
Into the sea of blue

And I will always have your smile,
etched into my weary mind

I'll hear the laughter of a child,
Far too young to ever die

And every year when snowflakes fall,
I'll light a candle to your name

And you will be right by my side,
Until the wind blows out the flame

I don't typically write poetry for fun, I usually write lyrics, which I consider to be extremely different. But I wrote this last night and it just seemed more like a poem than a song, so I figured maybe it'd be better off here. It's a bit depressing, but hey, that's life for you.
