I Knew You Were Mine

Remember the first day you asked me to go out with you ?
We went to that small coffee shop on the corner of Mainstreet.
You played with your thumbs, drank your hot chocolate and then said,
" Would you like to go out with me ?" That was the best day of my life.

I knew you were mine.

Remember our first date ?
we went to that old youth club behind the bakers.
We danced and drank lemonade till ten o'clock.
Then when you dropped me home you leaned over and gently kissed me in the back of your dads car.

Remember our six month anniversary ?
You bought me a little silver necklace and I bought you that new playstation game you wanted.
Then you came over to my house and we listened to our favourite songs together and stole more kisses from each other.

I knew you were mine.

Remember 5 years later we spent Christmas together ?
You stayed over in my house and we got up early to open our presents together.
Then we ate Christmas dinner like a family,like the family I hoped to have with you some day.

I knew you were mine.

Remember the day you died ?
How the car came at you so fast you didn't have time to save yourself.
The long painful scream you let out as the car hit you that then suddenly came to an abrupt stop.
It still haunts me to this day.

I knew you were mine and I was yours but I just don't know who I am anymore.
