Dreams of the World

I woke up hearing the ocean,
intake of breath
rolling back in towards the waves
to the heart of the Earth
Exhale to mine
Darling, tell me your dreams
I whisper softly
into your seashell of an ear
Your reply is
tides rushing inland,
seagulls calling above,
the gentle rustle of sand
sifting beneath the sea's surface,
but you are not the ocean,
you are the world
