Superman
Superman
Climbing the staircase
Legs numb and heavier with each step
A pill, or two, or twelve
Fly away, you convinced yourself
Jump.
Don’t think. You’re ready.
A memory of loved ones pushed away
An escape to give up a lifetime of guilt
Jump.
Just a flash of blue and crimson
The sun beating down on the pavement below you
Don’t look down, your mind hisses
Jump.
One more step into ignorance and bliss
Away from the taunting inside your head
This won’t hurt one bit
Jump.
Hit the ground silently
All goes black
Superman spread his wings too soon.

I wrote this to receive some closure about my dad's suicide. He loved Superman, was obsessed rather. I never got to say goodbye so I tried to imagine the scenario as I saw it. Please share your thoughts.
