The Summer Session Day
Beacons of color began to pierce the sky
I saw dawn for the first time
the clean-washed shine of the mornings in the north country
We went outside in the cordial afternoon sunshine. The playing fields were optimistically green before us
We reached the beach late in the afternoon. The tide was high and the surf was heavy
delighted by the fading glow of the day
lights against the deepening blue sky gained ideal, starry beauty
Sharp stars pierced singly through the blackness
