Some Moments

She walks alone through the budding wildflowers,
Smiling a smile that holds many secrets.
She knows, as He knows, that they will not be alone long.

She places a blanket on the cool ground to sit and wait.
The magic starts precisely at sunrise.
He will come to bring the wonders and the flowers too.

She plucks the grass and watches for the sun’s first rays.
Remembering the many past meetings.
Once a year, for only some moments, He comes to play.

She thinks of the first time she walked through the flowers
Not knowing what mysteries were hidden deep.
He showed her His magic and made her promises too.

She squints into the light that’s come peeking past the hill
Listens for rustling of feet in the grass.
Her heart feels like the beating of a hummingbird’s wings.

She hears the lilting music from His handmade flute.
He stands, fantastic and all so alluring
And plays His magic for Them, so the flowers can dance.

She sways, as He sways, like the reeds in a windstorm.
Thrumming with the thought of what is coming.
They are waking, from a dream, to live for some moments.

She crawls amongst the flowers to choose her perfect one.
And finds a purple bud starting to move.
She whispers for Her to unfurl and taste the great sky.

She cradles her bud while it shakes on its thin stem.
His magic is holding fast to each one.
They stretch to their tallest height and burst into full bloom.

She cries in awe seeing tiny petals and limbs.
They break from their stems and drift on the wind.
Small bodies, faces and hands, with little wings that fly.

She dances, to music and magic, just this once.
For some moments are wondrous to believe
That tiny beings in flowers wake from dreams to live.

She feels the magic ease and hears His music end.
He has left her without another sound.
The flowers have fallen asleep again, to bide their time.

She sleeps alone at night, warm and peaceful in bed.
Smiling a smile that holds many secrets.
She dreams, as They dream, that they will not be alone long.D
