Taking Chances

I stand,
Feet unlined with my shoulders,
I breathe,
My chest deepening,
I stretch,
and prepare
I see it,
slowly coming to me,
Now fast,
Flying at me,
I grab the bar,
And swing.
Slow motion,
And I hear nothing
No smack
No hit
It falls to the floor,
smashed to pieces,
I drop the bat

I missed it.
