Desperate Measures

My soul is but a dead bird at the bottom of a dark cage
Split into a million pieces, each piece a different love song singing desperate measures are in place
I reflect on the confessions that I never said but I do not repent for the grief that bestowed us
The natural order has spoken and so has my definition of closure
As it rocks back and forth like creeping death as the time draws near
Now I have you within my reach, the skin is stripped and flesh is torn
The burning sensation shall begin
After all the hunting the mighty has succeeded with just a breath of life left but enough to carry on
The roses are dead, all that is blue is me
And into the night I venture, searching, looking
Hopefully we shall cross paths in spirit as I take my final steps into the beyond
Just maybe the indifference will subside and our hearts can once again collide
I ask not for forgiveness or sorrow, I ask for you, in my ideal shape and form
Helpless on the runway of life, moments away from the green light
Waiting for my hand to lead you into the world we both created
