There and Back Again

My head it pounds,
My stomach aches,
I'm feeling cold,
I get the shakes.

My breathing slows,
My eyes roll back,
The colours around me,
They fade to black.

Inside my head,
I feel at peace,
The pain and turmoil,
Seem to cease.

I feel a shock,
An electric pulse,
It hits my chest,
I feel my heart convulse.

My body arcs,
My heart it beats,
My body slumps,
My heart it fleets.

The peace is gone,
The silence fades,
The darkness,
Becomes different shades.

Soon I return to where I came,
The place I called my home,
But nothing feels the same to me,
Away from the the whispering dome.

I've used whispering dome as a way to describe heaven I suppose it fitted into the poem anyway!
