I've Got a Perfect Body (But Sometimes I Forget)

I try so hard to love myself
But sometimes I forget
The occasional darkness comes creeping in

A film of grimy smoke on the mirror
Ash obscuring the beauty in my eyes
I see nothing and interpret it as nothing lovely

But even self-created smoke dissipates, ever slowly
I am reminded of the strange singularity of my angles
And I, surprised, find a being of wondrous luster staring back at me

I wrote this today while feeling kind of down as a reminder to myself. Inspired by "Folding Chair" by Regina Spektor. Remember how lovely you are, my dears.
