Remember the Rivers

Each and every day for endless months,
You'd whisk me away to somewhere unique to show how much,
How much you loved me when I played my songs,
How much you yearned to sing along,

Sing by the side of the rushing rivers,
When it was cold, you'd hold me close, discard the shivers,
You'd wrap me up, act as my blanket and kiss me graciously,
Here we'd laugh, sing, dance and smile playfully,

Never did I once feel ice in my heart,
When you sided with me and promised we needn't be apart,
Here I tell you in verse how I miss your kiss,
But all the while knowing that these words is something you must miss,

I can't allow myself to bleed any more tears of sorrow,
You inspire me to set up a plan for the new tomorrow,
Instead of wasting my hours behind a desirous duvet and soothing sleep,
Here you save me from destroying everything I know I must strive to be,

You made me admire the strong, with your words,
You held me close and told me I could be that gracious girl,
The one with eyes that could fight the strangest storms,
The girl who would put up a fight to any hazards or harm,

Here she lies beside you, eyes analyzing the grey grave near the ground,
Here she sleeps, when others believes she spends her nights in town,
Wherever she goes, whatever she does, here she will forever be,
Here by your grave, you're the soul who I can't allow myself to have more tears to bleed,

As you're the one who taught me how to be strong,
You're the friend who held me near you and carried me on,
You're the love that will never escape my ever so demolishing mind,
You're the heart that I will forever long to be kept close to mine,

You're the sea that I shall sail whether you wish me to leave,
This is all that I am, because of you, I am finally me,
This is the time when it all becomes clearer,
I kick my feet against the floor and I refuse to fear burns,

As those burns are what show my strength,
I fight right now and I fought back then,
Here, by the wondrous water, I continue to shiver,
As I have no coat around me, whilst admiring the radiant rivers,

But I needn't a coat or fleece to keep me warm,
All I need is to remember, that with you by my side, I am protected from harm,
You may no longer helpfully hold my hand to restrain me from feeling low,
But regardless of where you are or what you're doing, you're my hero,

You're the person who became my savior shield from hurt,
You're the blanket that destroyed my shaky shivers,
My memory of our laughter and our love, I hope it'll never wither,
Because you, my friend, my love, my heart, you are why I now remember the rivers...
