Winter Flowers
it's hard to forget you when the snow falls
but it's even harder to remember
because our love blossomed in the spring
then wilted in december
we made beds of flowers in may
that we'd lay in til the sun went down
you'd kiss me on the forehead
and chase me around
laughter echoed in the warm air,
soft against our skin
surrounding two young lovebirds,
happier than i've ever been
but then the seasons began to turn
and there was a chill in the air
only slight at first,
then making itself aware
i thought nothing of it,
for i had your warmth of spring
but autumn was on it's way
and what changes it may bring
the sun fell below now early
and the flowers all soon died
and we didn't lay together
i wasn't at your side
the cold grew stronger
the wind began to blow
little specks of ice fell from the sky
swaying to and fro
it covered the land,
it buried our bed of flowers
now no more
where we spend all our hours
i could no longer keep you warm,
no matter the heat in my heart
and just as the snow from the sky
i fell apart
you loved me in the spring
and left me in the winter
you planted in me flowers
and left them all to wither
and now every fresh snow
i plant a daisy in the ground
to never let myself forget
the painful love that i found
because it's hard to forget you when the snow falls
but it's even harder to remember
because our love blossomed in the spring
then wilted in december
