The Problem with Being a Teenager

The problem with being a teenager is that
Everyone tells you the world is yours.
Well, sometimes you don’t want the world
You just want the girl.

The problem with being a teenager is that no one takes your feelings seriously
No one sees things the way you see.
Everyone else has lost faith and no longer believes,
But you hold on tight to what you know is real.

The problem with being a teenager is that nothing’s ever good enough.
They want you to be perfect, and you just want to be loved.
They say there’s no room for mistake.
You just don’t want your heart to break.

The problem with being a teenager is that advice is never in short supply.
They’re giving you a lecture, when all you want is someone to hold you while you cry.
The problem with being a teenager is that life too often disappoints.
You feel the hurt so deep it penetrates your joints.

The problem with being a teenager is that everything’s too short.
Your ship has finally sailed and suddenly you’re back at port.
But, if you want to know the truth, call my bluff.
The only real problem with being a teenager is that it doesn't last long enough.
