Waking Up

The sun, warm on her skin
Shines through the window brightly.
She's happy; peaceful within.
She awaits this feeling nightly.

She smiles and takes in the light.
The nurturing rays filtered by blinds.
She looks over to her right
And his face is what she finds.

She recalls events of before
And notices he's opened his eyes.
She loves him with her core,
And prays for no demise.

She knows he'll leave soon,
and begs him just to stay.
But he will be gone by noon.
There's no more to left say.

Gently, he strokes her cheek.
Her spine tingles at the touch.
She'll see him in a week
And miss him very much.

I came up with the title first, and the poem just came to me.
