From Falling

Wanting to hold on
But needing closure,
I take a deep breath;
Start seeking you out.
Searching for you in this sea
Of nameless faces.
Souless people on their way to limbo,
Moaning about.

Their peeling skin reveals jagged
White bones.
Their dead black eyes litter
The ground.
Their red and yellow bulbous muscles
Pop out.
As they reach for me,
Grasping,
dragging
me
down.

The gnashing of their yellowing
teeth,
Is the only sound I can hear
over the moaning.
Their corpse-like hands dig
under my skin.
They leave me a crumbling, disheveled heap,
groaning.

Darkness is created by their
piling bodies.
I can see nothing, only hear my flesh
ripping.
I cry out in pain, my pleas fall on
deaf ears.
Oh, only if one lived a truly wretched life
would this be fitting.

Suddenly,
I'm blinded
by a brilliant
white
light.
The corpses screech in agony as
they're torn away from me.
As quickly as the cold is gone, I am
enveloped in warmth.
Gripping on to my true love,
I am finally freed.

Your arms wrap tightly around me.
Your angelic voice whipers sweet, little nothings in my ears.
I cry; I am not worthy of your grace, your love.
Yet, hear I am, blessed for having you near.

You
saved
me
from
falling.
