Slowly I Fall

Slowly as I fall into the abyss
Enthralled, I hear the call
Unable to resist its bliss
It’s beckoning hiss, not amiss

Down the slippery slope I slide
On the ledge at the very edge
Forlorn hope, I cannot hide
Caught in a wedge, this I pledge

I will not stall, nor shall I weep
Its invitable call renders peace
Immeasurably I fall into a deep
sleep with ease to be released

As I fall, I feel it’s presence near
I adhere, as it comes for me
I’m not appalled, I will not fear
Slowly I fall it sets me free
