Slow Upcoming Prospects

I wish someday I have the courage to say it,
And I know that one day I will,
Whether it’s the right time,
Or the right person.

To me, hope lies in the eyes of the innocent
Because I have seen too much already,
And so my soul is no longer pure
Or unflawed.

For me, what it’s worth the while is simple,
Lying there on the ground in the sunlight,
For everyone to see
And no one to touch.

When I am old and brave enough to face myself,
And when the sun has set before my eyes,
I’ll tell my secrets to my enemies
And forgive my friends.

And when the day has come and our time ends,
When it finally does and there’s no one else,
That’s when I’ll beg for another chance
I never learnt to do it quite right.

The day I’m sure I can trust myself,
I’ll let others in on the gist
For them to use my sight
As a moral.

But before my sundown finally comes,
And just after I have started to live,
I’ll show others what it means
To be alone.
