Perspectives on Love

There’s a common conception that everyone knows,
That love either fails or succeeds and then grows.
But something that heartbreak has taught me of late
Is that love isn’t simple and it’s never a waste.

The heart never fails to seek what it needs
Even if, once it’s found, it immediately leaves.
Even if, when you touch it, it poisons your soul…
Still, having been there gives you such space to grow.

Love – when pursued – cannot possibly fail.
Although lives move along, and most people will bail…
The ultimate goal is not to cling through the strife,
But to let go of yourself and taste new flavors of life.

Because intimacy has a particular talent
For expanding the worlds of the people who have it.
Love will prove how perspectives that aren’t your own
Can still, in some way, feel exactly like home.
