What I Choose to Believe

"What's the point?" she asked, her head hangs low, shoulders shaking.

"We waste our breathe, our time, our lives, searching for love and trying to keep it, only for it to leave us, taking all that we've sacrificed with it. Lovers turn to strangers, silently hating each other solely because neither of them could make what they had work. The end suddenly diminishes the entirety of the relationship, as though none of it was worth it, so what's the point? We're throwing our lives away for this 'love'," she looks up, tears unable to mask the fear in her eyes, the fear that she may be right.

He shakes his head,"When you find the real thing, it makes all the other failed attempts worth it, it even makes some sense out of them. Truth is, love makes life worth it."

She decides to believe him.
