A New Day

You've made your choice,
You've said your goodbye's.

It was a gentle push,
A less painful demise.

It ended quiet slowly,
creeping towards the end.

A castle left abandoned,
No soul left to defend.

Thoughts left unspoken.
Souls left heartbroken.
Words left misspoken.

* * *

A knife in the dark,
Quiet, swift and unsteady.

Separated quite quickly,
I was simply not ready.

A sigh of relief,
As you looked at the damage.

You say you are sorry,
Words don't work like a bandage.

White flags of surrender.
Coward or defender?
Breaker or mender?

* * *

A new dawn is breaking,
I've seen the light.

Heavy in my heart,
Yet out of my sight.

The world keeps on turning,
And I must go on.

I have to realize,
You believe you did no wrong.

A life has been waiting.
It might get frustrating,
But no more debating,
The risks I'll be taking.

I'll be creating,
A life that's worth living.

It will be fascinating,
And I'll be forgiving.
