Waterlogged Flame

lungs filling with water
she's drowning
but no one hears
her hollow heart, still pounding
and her name?
who knows
they're all the same
a nameless face you see on the street
a doormat for you to rest your feet
"I'm sorry honey, did I hear you speak?"
a wilting wallflower
quiet and meek
but oh honey, my dear
didn't you hear?
it's a shame
you've waterlogged
such a brilliant flame
that keeps others so warm on cruelest of nights
and pierces through darkness
with radiant light
but don't you fret, don't you cry
because such a brilliance
will never die

for all those who are unappreciated, unheard, or treated like doormats. for all the underdogs out there. I see you. I appreciate you. don't let anyone ever steal your brightness.
