I will be Alive

What happens when I die?
I only have so many breaths to breathe
So many days to live
So many thoughts to think
Before the Great Beyond calls me home.
Where will I go?
Back to the Earth.
I will be a memory,
Made of what was loaned to me
By the Mother.
When I die, “I” will cease to be
But my atoms, my molecules, my energy
Will be recycled.
I must die so that new life may thrive.
I have only borrowed myself,
And I am staying my stay.
A time will come when my lease is up
And I will return my rented materials
To become something again.
So do we really die?
I don’t think so.
When I step away,
Don’t put me in a coffin.
Don’t leave me in a box where my body stays my own.
Put me in the ground where I can become the Earth again.
I may not be myself but I will be something.
I will be
Alive.
