A Daughter Like Me

I want you to be proud of me.
Of what I do and who I am.
I’m trying.
So hard.
But I’m just not capable
Of being more than this
I will not be your honor student
I will never wear the golden crown
I want to make you proud
But your ashamed
Of such a wreck
A daughter like me
You say I’m all you have
That I am more valuable than gold
But deep in your eyes I feel
I feel you wish I was never born
I am sorry
I wish for that too
But don’t you worry
The pain wont last too long now
It will all be over soon
And we can finally rest in peace
The sweet peace
Of knowing
I lived up to my limit
Yet you will always live
To be ashamed of a daughter like me
